Apple backs bill banning LGBT discrimination.

apple-1034304_640Apple has joined Levi Struts Co. and Dow Chemical in the support of the bill that bans the discrimination of LGBT group. This bill ensures a federal legislation in favor of equal treatment for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender in workplace and public place.

In one of the statement issued by the Apple Company to the newspapers and public, they quoted, ‘At Apple we believe in equal treatment for everyone, regardless of where they come from, what they look like, how they worship or who they love.We fully support the expansion of legal protections as a matter of basic human dignity.’

This Equality Act that will be introduced to the Congress to be passed and then signed by the President to be a law has received a significant backup by the support of Apple and it also proves the tremendous effort of the company on the behalf of LGBT group.

A survey was conducted by the largest civil right organization in the US, HRC stated that 63 % LGBT Americans have faced discrimination and majority of them has suffered through it in their work place and currently there is no federal law for the protection of LGBT Americans from employment discrimination.

Apple has always been an outspoken technology company and supports the all American equality in work place. HRC has included Apple in the list of one of the Best Places for the LGBT group to work in. The company in its Corporate Equality Index has also scored 100 out of 100.

Apple CEO, Tim Cook in October has publicly for the first time accepted that he is a proud gay.  He has also written an 800 word essay about his status on the Bloomberg BusinessWeek.  Cook is the first openly Gay CEO of a Fortune 500 enterprise. Mr. Tim Cook has also publicly criticized the pending legislation in several states, and the law signed in Indiana that can allow discrimination of the patrons and employees of LGBT member group on the religious basis. The Apple CEO has also denoted money in his native state Alabama and other two state of Southern U.s to fund the Gay right activist.  CEO Tim Cook has also received the Alabama Academy of Honor Award for his speech on criticism of the society conservative state on LGBT and on lack of progress on the gay people’s rights. Democratic State Representative Patricia Todd who is also Alabama sole openly gay lawmaker has announced that the sexual orientation anti-discrimination bill of Alabama will be named after the Apple’s CEO Tim Cook.

8,000 Apples employed along with the CEO, Tim Cook participated in 43 Annual Gay Parade held at San Francisco.  They employees of the company had outnumbered all the employed from other leading tech companies such as Uber, Google and Facebook. The CEO of Apple along with his employees carried an LGBT rainbow flags across the street proclaiming their support.
